Default A somewhat insane Paragon build

So, having not seriously played the game in ages, I come back to my Paragon and think...

This could be a bit more interesting.

Two hours later, I have this.

Now, I've never been good at pulling off builds this esoteric in practice (I kind of end up flailing on the skills a bit more randomly than I should), so while I've used it to some success I can't really say exactly how good it is.

The idea is Purifying Finale + Go for the Eyes allow you to use Wearying Spear a lot. Combine this with Mark of Fury and Soldiers Fury, and you get to use it a lot more.

This is by no means the only gimmick this build has up its sleeve though, the rest here is I'm sure one of many examples of how to double it up - To have the attributes to truly exploit this, superior motivation, spear mastery, and leadership runes should be equipped. To exploit this extra-low health and that you have lots of points in blood, blood renewal provides very cost-effective self healing. Further exploiting the low health you can use burning refrain to buff your attacks with constant burning (to a point) - I mean lets face it, you'll have less health than your target until you go in for the kill. Finally in this variation I put Spear of Lightning to give that little extra power after a wearying spear to really go in for the kill.

Other things I've played about with is using natural temper instead of Soldiers Fury, freeing up the elite slot for something else - You could potentially put an interesting necro elite in this slot, I haven't experimented with that much yet.

Anyway, this build is kind of insane but I figure that's the appeal. If anyone can see some super way to exploit this all that I've missed I'd like to know.

I've seen some people just run song of purification on one para and then wearying on an entire party of spearchuckers. Avatar of Melandru hero should let you take it to the next level.

Your link is broken, got trash in it. Is good idea. From description a good example of what thinking can get out of a paragon. A new take on IAS build with enhanced DPS.

With Avatar of Melandru Dervish Hero in party doing tear down flash enchantments, get excellent condition removal plus cracked armor and other goodies.

I run Anthem of Fury (Leadership 13) build. With Dervish hero as above, could spam Wearying Spear; but prefer Barbed Spear to Spear of Fury. This combo adds bleeding, hits for about the same damage, and returns adrenaline gain as well. This leaves the target bleeding and the adrenaline gain usually goes first to Save Yourselves. Anthem of Fury at Leadership 13 will really charge up adrenaline skills on a Dervish and a Warrior hero; which unless heavy hex area is what I most often use.

An Avatar of Melandru Dervish and a Dragon Slash Warrior fed extra adrenaline as they fight put out all the physical DPS I need.

Good idea,
However I don't see which chant or shout you use to maintain Soldier's Fury. You have three echo's in there and only one non-permanent shout ("Go for the eyes"). Or am I missing something?

On a Side note:

A rune of clarity plus a shield inscripted "Only the Strong Survive" will reduce weakness to barely felt three seconds (two attacks without an IAS). Enough to make it useful as finish of a skill chain, with little need to remove weakness, at least in my experience.

Hm, sorry about the broken link, it seemed to work for me - And thanks for fixing it.

I hadn't actually thought about the implications of running a team around it. Should you do that, you could actually get adrenaline gain doubly insane and run Anthem of Fury like you suggest along with Mark of Fury. You could afford less points in spear to push leadership higher for it. Since both Mark of Fury and Anthem of Fury have 10 sec recharge, you could alternate their use and force consistently incredible adrenaline through your entire party.

...Alternatively for some additional condition removal power and potentially hilarious levels of burning output, you could use Cautery Signet as your elite and combine with Plague Sending (doesn't really require point investment) if you've got lots of heroes spamming self-conditioning skills.

The problem with this build is you haven't thought about the entire team, but simply putting every skill you need for your paragon to function on HIS bar. You want to spam Wearying Spear for big domoges? You can bring Mark of Fury or Dark Fury on a Minion Bomber, for example. I don't really understand why you want Blood Renewal =/

An issue I can think of is that you need to spend adrenaline to put up your shout, and then also to throw your spear. To really abuse it, it needs to fuel itself to spam on recharge, with weakness expiring before impact, at 33% IAS, and be easy to set up. Even with Purifying Veil and the two reduction runes, weakness will always be on you when you attack. This leaves only Assassin's Remedy as a good on-demand curing skill, but even if you could build consistent adrenaline on it, it would only work for 10 attacks every 20 seconds.

When you're doing physical martial damage, reliability and consistency is key. It's as important as energy management. Consider that Strength of Honor (a single, easily maintainable skill) adds up to +25 to any melee attack, and you're dedicated a full build to push out a single +40 attack every other attack, you can see that where sustainable attack damage is concerned, melee is the only choice.

4x Wearying Spear + SoH for a big spike.

Minions, dual spirit wall, instant recharge on wearying spear for player, dual hit for heroes.

Not sure if there's enough heal/prot between imbagon, commandagon, dual motigons, and mini prot bar.

Note: can drop something for a ranger with Infuriating Heat so heroes can spam wearying too.

Strength of Honour only works on melee attacks, so it wouldn't work on the Spear Paragons. Unless you were planning to cast it on some of the Minions or something.

Also if you are looking to spike with spear in PvE, I'd add Find Their Weakness to one of the Command Paragons somewhere. It adds a deep wound and adds a large amount of armour ignoring damage which will stack ontop of the extra damage you'll already be getting from Wearying Spear on that specific spear throw.

@OP
As already mentioned, you need a maintainable shout or chant somewhere to fuel Soldier's Fury. Echos don't count.

Ah, maybe the lack of maintainable shout or chant is why I was having limited success with this. That kind of really passed me over.

Everyone makes good points. I did kind of too eagerly try to push everything onto a single character when really, a team build is more what this skill combination should be pursued with. I don't think I'm quite used to the concept of having 7 heroes and just how exploitable that might be is yet either. The example team a few posts above is definitely intriguing. The consistency point is taken to heart too.

This is probably really more of a build I made because I could than because it's particularly good. But I definitely felt positive about the basic concept behind it, and getting some input on what works and what doesn't is kind of why I posted it up here in the first place - All of which has been very good, so thank you all for your comments so far.

Just to address the blood renewal point - At the low HP that build runs at, the health sacrifice is incredibly minimal compared to the healing you get out of it. It pretty much just felt like an incredibly efficient skill to put there given the setup.
